After a very busy surgery in Tooting, I stopped by the Trident Business Centre to meet these fantastic young entrepreneurs. They are using their half term to set up and run their own cafe for a week. The service was great and the cakes delicious. Quite inspirational from our young Tooting-ites!

The results are in, and tonight for Labour - especially in Wandsworth - it has not been anywhere near good enough. I support a People's Vote. Labour should be an explicitly pro-remain party. If you live in Tooting, I want to hear from you. Tell me why you voted the way you did: drrosena.co.uk/euelections Today I was out and about in Tooting Market talking to the local small business owners who keep the area so vibrant. It was great to welcome our new zero-waste shop, BYO London, to our community. Simply bring your own containers, fill them with everything from chocolate to cooking oil, and rest easy knowing you've contributed to minimising food waste - and reducing the plastic waste which our supermarket produce comes covered in. BYO is a wonderful initiative and a great addition to Tooting Market. Be back soon to load up with goodies! Ahead of the European Elections, today the Tooting Labour Family were out on the campaign trail with pro-EU, pro-PV supporter Paul Mason. Being pro-EU and a staunch supporter of a public vote myself, it was great to hear voters are sticking with Labour. I'm confident that Tooting will reject Farage's blank manifesto. Today I raised the case of Sarah, a Tooting resident, in Parliament. Sarah has cerebral palsy and relies on her specialist wheelchair. But it's broken. And the DWP want her to pay £17k to replace it. This is really unfair. I will be working with the Minister and Sarah to try and sort this out, for her and others. Watch the video here: https://twitter.com/DrRosena/status/1127943884968005632 It was great to be at Smallwood School this morning to see the excellent work they are doing to improve children's reading. I got to revisit some of my favourite childhood books, plus listen to the children read (and talk excitedly about) their favourites. It's great to hear the plans for their brand new library, and I can't wait to visit then. In other news, there's also talk of a cheerleading workshop - though thankfully I wasn't asked to join in with that. Tonight I was privileged to speak at the Show Racism the Red Card City Hall Education Showcase. As Shadow Sports Minister I have raised this issue in Parliament, pushed for debate, and worked tirelessly (alongside great organisations) to raise awareness of. Work to combat racism in sport is more important than ever, and I will continue to use my voice to combat this issue. Honoured to host a roundtable on child slavery today with my friend, Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, and pupils from schools across Tooting. What started with the screening of 'The Price of Free' at Parliament, continued with inspirational discussion, and was topped off with lots of pledges made by everyone in the room. It was exciting and so motivating to have all that energy in one room. Now to take action! Today I had the privilege of helping launch the Tooting Community Kitchen. The volunteers provide (hot and cold) food and drinks to the homeless and those in need from their stall on Tooting High Street every Saturday. But it doesn't stop there - they also offer toiletries and winter clothing, recently donating 30 winter packs to local homeless shelters. I've said it before and I'll say it again, our community is warm, welcoming, and always comes together for those in need. |
