Hazelfest

The weather held out, at least for most of the day, for Hazelfest.

I want to take this opportunity to thank residents of the Hazelhurst Estate and volunteers for putting on a fantastic community event.

I added my wish to the tree: it is my hope that this is the start of an annual Hazelfest and community events like it.

Love your local market

Tooting is blessed with two brilliant and vibrant markets. They only add to Tooting's history and culture.

Today I supported our markets during the love your local market campaign. Traders like Leon are the life-blood of our markets. I take my family to the market for children's activities and always enjoy getting dinner or a quick snack.

If you are ever visiting Tooting, I always recommend making time to visit our markets.

Mayor of London visits Business Launchpad

Today I was delighted to show Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, around Business Launchpad and introduce him to the amazing team at Trident Business Centre.

I am so proud of what our young people are achieving. The support Business Launchpad provides is vital and I am always pleased to support them.

Prayer Vigil

I was honoured to join the prayer vigil on the Henry Prince Estate. It is always a pleasure to see the Nicholas Stewart Project and the local community pull together through tough times.

We must all work together to protect everyone in our communities.

Supporting the local Foodbank

I am proud of the residents of Tooting who come together to support each other. The Foodbank, the volunteers and donors all do fantastic work.

Thank you to those who I have had the opportunity to meet and others who support their work.

Opening of Wandsworth Mind Hub

I was honoured to open the new Wandsworth Mind Hub in Tooting.

Mental Health must be funded and must be spoken about. I look forward to support the Hub going forward.

LGBT+ Wandsworth Coffee Morning

Parliament has been dissolved

As you may be aware, the Prime Minister has called a UK General Election on the 8th June 2017. Parliament is now dissolved, which means that there will be no sitting Members of Parliament from this date until the election. Although I will be seeking re-election, on 3rd May I will cease to be the sitting MP for Tooting.

Please be advised that during the election period I cannot take on new casework or policy enquiries due to strict parliamentary protocol. However, you are more than welcome to contact me if you are currently experiencing an emergency situation, such as imminent eviction and deportation.

When I was elected last June, I promised to stand up for you and your neighbours - since then I have been standing up for Tooting and voted against triggering Article 50.

Youth Rally

Young people deserve to be listened to, both locally and nationally.

It was a privilege to speak to a large group of young people in Tooting about the upcoming General Election.

All those over 18 should ensure they are registered to vote by 22nd May.
