Immigration Issues

What I can help with?
  • Requesting an update from the Home Office on an outstanding application
  • Inquiring into Home Office procedures
  • Inquiring into rights to work in the UK during an application
  • Inquiring into imminent removal and deportation cases
Please note: I cannot guarantee that the Home Office will provide you with the answer you want to hear and I do not have the power to change any decision made by the Home Office.

FAQs:
I would like to discuss an issue face to face with you or a member of your staff. How can I do this?
Although I deal with all immigration cases in the same way, whether they are brought to me via email, post or surgery meetings, I do offer one to one immigration surgery appointments

Can you provide me with legal advice regarding my case with the UK Home Office?
As a Member of Parliament I cannot offer professional legal advice and I am not qualified to give legal advice on immigration matters

Organisations offering free initial advice can be found here

Can you overturn a decision made by the Home Office on my immigration case?
A Member of Parliament has no jurisdiction over the Home Office and therefore I will not be able to change any decisions made by the Home Office regarding your case. If you are unhappy with the outcome of a Home Office decision you should consult with a registered legal adviser over your rights to appeal

Can you please write a letter of support for my relative/friend who is applying for a visa?
I am unable to write letters of support for constituents and/or friends/relatives of constituents who are applying for visas

I currently have an outstanding application with the Home Office and my employer is unsure whether I still have the right to work in the UK. Can you help me find out?
Yes, I can contact the Home Office on your behalf to gain clarification on your rights to work whilst you carry out an outstanding application with the Home Office

Can you help me with my friend, relative or someone else’s immigration case?
Due to strict Home Office rules I will not receive a response to inquiries made on third party cases. I will not be able to provide you with information on other people’s home office applications or pass on information regarding their applications to the Home Office

You have contacted the Home Office on my behalf but I haven’t received a response yet. Is there a problem?
If I have made representations on your behalf regarding an immigration matter to the Home Office, I will inform you as soon as I receive a response. Please be advised that it can take up to six weeks for me to receive a response
