NHS at 70

Today I joined staff and patients at St George’s Hospital to celebrate 70 years of one of our nation’s greatest treasures: the NHS.

After opening the festivities, I joined in with a number of activities, and supported 70 staff members who took part in the “Big Birthday Walk” – a 6.2 mile walk from the site of the old St George’s Hospital to the current site.

As an NHS doctor, the NHS is something that I am extremely passionate about. I understand and immensely respect the excellent work conducted by medical and healthcare professionals in this country. I look forward to continuing to campaign for further investment into the NHS to ensure its vital work can continue.

The Government has starved the NHS of funding over the last 8 years. They're now aimlessly trying to throw money at it but they haven't considered social care, public health and training.

Hi Rowena
I know that you are going to think this is strange.
But can I just ask? Our wonderful prime minister is crying out that we have to bring in Doctors and Nurses from outside the UK because we haven't got enough.
As a highly respected Doctor you know that maybe the case but wouldn't it be fantastic if we scrapped the uni fees for students wanting to become Doctors, nurses, radiographers and so on it would make a major difference to those that want to do it but can't afford to.
over the past couple of years I have had to fund both of my sons to train to benefit the ings
one to become a radiograher and the other a nurse. I wish Theresa May would Give our young nhs students a chance.Thanks.
