Tom's Farm

30/11/2021

Tom's Farm at Nightingale Academy is truly special.

From taking care of the animals to competing in national young farmer competitions, students here are provided with the very best learning opportunities. These kids have an outlet to learn about agriculture and animals in a supportive environment.

I’m so proud of the work the farm is doing, and I’m looking forward to returning to see everyone soon - especially the adorable animals.

Save Our Track

27/11/2021

This week the Council finally listened to us!

Our beloved Tooting Bec Athletics Track will be saved and get the investment it so desperately needs and deserves.

To lose such a valuable asset in our community would be a devastating blow to so many of our young people. Having this track will be useful for encouraging young people to be physically active and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Thank you to everyone who joined the efforts to save our track!

Beatrix Potters School

It was an absolute pleasure to spend time at Beatrix Potter school today. The students were engaged, Year 3's cursive handwriting was impressive,  and Year 6 had insightful suggestions on tackling the climate emergency. It's safe to say there were some future leaders in the room!

It’s incredibly insightful to see young leaders develop and put their ideas into practice to shape the world in the future. I was truly inspired.

Thank you for having me!

It was an absolute pleasure to spend time at the Khalsa Centre Gurdwara here in Tooting, sharing prayers and food.

It was nice to meet the Sikh community at the Gurdwara. Our community is a vibrant and multicultural place, and the diversity of our community is such a strength.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome.

Multi-Faith Peace Ceremony

22/11/2021

Last week was the  first time in two years, Tooting came together for the Multi-Faith Peace Ceremony. The importance of this ceremony is that leaders of the main faiths and civic leaders gather with the general public to express prayers and wishes for peace and community solidarity.

Our community stood side-by-side, many faiths, all ages, and people from all walks of life who bonded over those differences.

It was a real honour to be asked to speak and say a few                                                                                                                                                              words. Thank you.

Free Nazanin

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is currently being held by the Iranian government and it is unacceptable that our government is failing to obtain her speedy release.

Richard has fought hard to obtain his wife’s release from Iran, and it was my deepest honour to meet him and show support during this difficult time for him and his family.

I stood in solidarity with Richard Ratcliffe, on his 12th day of his hunger strike. It's truly heartbreaking.

Let’s bring Nazanin home.
