Today I was delighted to attend the opening of Little Village. A fantastic local group working to provide children's clothes and equipment to families in Wandsworth who are facing hard times.

If you have any good quality children's products that your family no longer needs please do consider donating it.

Today I have written a letter to the Prime Minister to call on her to halt the imposition of the Junior Doctor contract.

We need to ensure the safety of both patients and healthcare professionals who are working tirelessly on the front line.

Please join with me and add your name to the letter.

Refugee Crisis in Europe

21/8/2016

Over the past couple of weeks I have been meeting with Lord Dubs and a number of organisations such as Save the Children, Unicef UK and Citizens UK to hear more about the refugee crisis that is happening across Europe.

I am shocked that there are so many children, as young as 8, alone across Europe. Going forward I will be working to ensure the Dubs Amendment is followed through on and that children are reunited with their families here in the UK.

Today Tooting residents voted for the fourth time this year in the local council by-election.

I am delighted that we were able to retain the seat and now have the excellent Paul White on the Wandsworth Council.

Thank you to the many volunteers who supported his campaign.

Gatwick vs Heathrow

Today I met with Gatwick's Chief Executive, Stewart Wingate, to discuss the potential expansion of Gatwick Airport.

With the creation of thousands of new jobs, lower levels of pollution compared to Heathrow, easier access for more people and lower costs I believe Gatwick is the right option for expansion.

Today I met with the Leader of Merton Council to discuss possible impacts of the Plough Lane/AFC Wimbledon development.

We have had lengthy discussions over the last few weeks but I am pleased they have agreed to the following:
  • £1m for TfL to improve Garratt Lane bus services.
  • Up to £250k to improve Earlsfield and Tooting parks.
  • £100k+ for parking issues at residents discretion.
  • £400k for additional GPs and health facilities.
  • An ongoing contributions towards our schools if needed.
  • Improvements to roads and pavements in the Earlsfield area.

Merton Council are taking this incredibly seriously, I'm confident they are listening to our concerns but I will continue to push them.

Thank you to the Balham and Tooting Community Association for inviting me for a cup of tea early this morning.

Tooting has so many  organisations that make our community great. It was a pleasure to spend time with so many residents - thank you for all the tips on how you are staying so youthful.

I am aware of the rising number of people using Earlsfield station. Therefore I have met with South West Trains in order to find out more on what they are currently doing to increase rush hour capacity, fix the lift at the station and what plans are in place for increases in rail users.

I was pleased to hear that work is being done to improve capacity and the all around service they provide.

Charity Cycle

7/8/2016

High rent, stagnant wages and benefit sanctions are just a few factors leading to the increasing use of local foodbanks. This needs to stop.

Today I took part in a charity cycle to raise money for foodbanks in Wandsworth who support those who desperately need them.

Thank you to The Gym Group and Donate4Fit for putting on the event and all the volunteers who took part and rode over 1000km in 48 hours.
