 Many people have written to me over the past few weeks about Macmillan and the incredible work that they do. It was great to support one of their events today in Balham, helping to raise the funds that go such a long way in supporting sufferers of Cancer and their carers.

 It was wonderful to meet TJ this morning at Balham Boxing Club about his fantastic local business, 'Meat Free Fitness'. It's always enjoyable to be back at my home Boxing Club in Balham.  It was a great honour to open the new coworking space at Trident Business Centre this morning with the Business Launchpad Team.
Coworking spaces such as these provide excellent spaces for new businesses and entrepreneurs to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment. For more information please click here.  Despite significant local opposition, Wandsworth Council removed all the trees on Chestnut Avenue today. This was extremely disappointing for local residents and the whole situation has been dealt with in an awful manner.
Wandsworth Council must be scrutinised moving forward, and they should endeavour to improve the way in which they take decisions that have such a significant impact.
It was a pleasure to attend the Labour Party Conference in Brighton this year. It was a great few days, with a huge range of exciting discussions and events.
It was an honour to speak in the main hall on the, about the way in which this Government is failing to represent the country with its atrocious handling of the Brexit negotiations.  It was great to meet with Peter Laverick this morning, the Borough Commander of Wandsworth Police.
We discussed working together to tackle moped crime, a particularly prevalent issue at the moment, and keeping Tooting streets safe.  I was delighted to host another Tooting Women's Networking Event at Ben's Canteen this morning. There were wide ranging and fascinating conversations about how to grow local businesses using technology and social networking.

It was a pleasure to meet Jacqueline this morning, the new CEO of St George's Trust. St George's is a fantastic hospital with incredible staff, and we had a very productive conversation about its future. It was a pleasure to visit the Nye Bevan Unit at St George's today and catch up with some of the staff. Named after the great Labour politician and creator of the NHS, the unit is a purpose-built emergency surgical assessment unit. With an average length of stay in the unit consistently below 10 hours, the facility will be important in the winter months to come, by relieving pressure on the hospital.  Despite the rain, plenty of local people came out to enjoy all that this year's Tooting Foodival had to offer.
This was the 10th anniversary of the event, and I look forward to many more in the future. |
