Little Village HQ donations

29/3/2022

Little Village HQ and their wonderful team urgently need donations! Little Village is a fantastic organisation that operates similar to a food bank, offering clothes, toys and equipment for babies and children up to the age of 5.

Currently, the team are struggling for donations across all sites and require sturdy bed kits, buggies, bedding, books, toys, feeding equipment and clothes for 2-5 year-olds.

These items can be donated at Little Village's site in Balham at St Mark's Church Hall, 53 Rowfant Rd, SW17 7AP. For more information on the important work that Little Village do,  please do visit their website at littlevillagehq.org

Smallwood Primary

It was so nice to be at Smallwood Primary School to learn about the fantastic work of the Chefs In Schools. It's amazing that all catering is now in-house, with chefs cooking food that has been grown by the students themselves.

The children were so enthusiastic about their freshly cooked and nutritious lunches. I believe that the work we’re doing with
Chefs in Schools will go a long way to promote positive attitudes and relationships with food and mealtimes for our young people. It was great to be able to support!

Letter to South West London CCG

15/3/2022

Recently, a number of residents contacted me regarding our local NHS Care Commissioning Group’s (CCG) policy on IVF treatment for same-sex couples.

The current policy means that women in same-sex relationships require 12 attempts at unstimulated Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) over a 12 month period before being able to access IVF treatment covered by the NHS. This would come at a personal cost of £19,200.

As a mother myself, I understand the joy, pride and happiness that children bring. I recognise the sincere desire of many LGBT+ people to experience the same and start their own families - providing their future children with safe and loving homes.

On behalf of concerned residents, I wrote to the CCG to challenge their current policy and encourage a more equal route to those wanting to start a family.

The response can be viewed here.

Visit to Ukraine

14/3/2022

I arrived back home safely from Ukraine yesterday. I went on a humanitarian mission with MedGlobalOrg, who are helping support hospitals to prepare for the darkest days of this conflict.

We worked with the most amazing people and met patients with the most heart-breaking stories. I was honoured to be able to help Ukrainian victims  in the midst of the heart breaking turmoil they are experiencing.

Let’s do all that we can to help support Ukraine.

International Women's Day

7/3/2022

This week, we celebrated our fantastic women business owners in Tooting. Over the last two years, many women have felt a disproportionate economic hit. Women hold the key to supercharging our economy as we recover from the pandemic.

Today I was delighted to welcome Anneliese Dodds MP to Tooting and meet with women business owners. I believe it is essential that we recognise the significant contribution women make and  commit to tackling the challenges that they still face today.

Also, we welcomed some of our community's many impressive business women and community                                                                  leaders to Parliament. Tooting is home to so many - it's only right we back women in business.
Lastly, a big thank you to Sir Keir Starmer MP for hosting.
