With the ceasefire in Gaza in tatters, the devastation and human suffering there will only continue. In Parliament, I pushed the Foreign Secretary, David Lammy MP, to confirm whether his department holds any evidence that international law has been violated. I joined Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper MP at St George's Hospital to see the impact of their new knife amnesty bin. Since December, 47 weapons have already been handed in. It is great to see so many dangerous weapons being taken off our streets.   Over the past months, I have heard from many local people who have been experiencing shocking delays to their post.
Today, I went down to the local sorting office to meet with Royal Mail directors and pushed them to urgently rectify this issue. I am pleased to say that they have agreed to turn it around in 4 weeks. Together, we can face down the threat of Putin and stand united to protect democracy. This week, I was in Brussels meeting MEPs to learn how we can work together in our shared defence interests. Today marks the fifth anniversary of the World Health Organisation declaring COVID-19 a pandemic. Our lives would change monumentally in the weeks and months that followed and, sadly, many of us would lose loved ones. Now is the time to remember all who lost their lives and celebrate the NHS heroes who did everything they could. |
