Today I dug out my black and white scarf and made the trip down to Imperial Fields. I was absolutely delighted to cheer on Tooting and Mitcham FC at their big FA Cup match against Northwood - and even more delighted when the final whistle blew to confirm the 2-1 victory for our beloved local team. Thank you to all the fans in the stands and the Tooting and Mitcham staff for making it such a wonderful day. So many people contribute to the club, and that's what gives it such heart and soul. What a win! Hope to see you all again soon.

It was fantastic to welcome Tooting's latest addition, Cafe Ole, to their new home today. This is a great new local business with such tasty food. The delicious menu made choosing my lunch very difficult, but I'm not sure you can go wrong here anyway. Definitely pop down to the Mitcham Road spot to sample. Whilst out and about meeting and speaking with local businesses today, I popped in to see the team at Lark in Tooting Broadway. They always have so many goodies in stock, and I couldn't help but be tempted by all the Tooting memorabilia. They also have shops in Balham, Earlsfield and beyond, so you're never far from picking up something gorgeous for home or a chic accessory - whether that's a treat for you or a loved one (that you end up keeping for yourself). We've all done that, right? I can honestly say that it is an honour to be the MP for Tooting. I have the best job in the world - Thank you to everyone who has made it possible. I need your help to get re-selected though. If you can make a few calls, click here: drrosena.co.uk/reselection.html If you can make a contribution towards leaflets and letters, donate here: drrosena.co.uk/donate The Council are not taking the issue of littering and fly-tipping seriously enough. This is why I consulted with local residents and we've come up with five proposals which will help make our streets cleaner and greener. These are:
People and businesses across the UK are worried what Brexit will mean for them. I took The Independent around Tooting to speak to local residents. I stood up for the UK under Theresa May, and I will not hesitate to do so again under Boris Johnson. The video is here: www.independent.co.uk/voices/brexit-tooting-fears-no-deal-europe-a9022436.html This week it was a pleasure to meet with Sharon Barli again at the Israeli Embassy. We were able to continue our constructive discussion about access to healthcare for Palestinians. I look forward to continuing to work together on such crucial humanitarian issues. I have no doubt there will be more news to follow... David, a local resident, was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes 70 years ago - shortly after our beloved NHS was founded. Today I was delighted to attend St George's Hospital and present David with a medal honouring his achievement. It was great to spend time with David, his wife Ann, the team, and guide dog Jules. We also made sure to recognise David's contribution to the community, where he worked until he was 75. He's a real inspiration. You may remember, back in May I raised the case of Sarah, a Tooting resident, in Parliament. Today, Sarah tweeted: "We've done it! Thanks to @DrRosena's tenacity and passion my wheelchair went on order yesterday and I will be receiving it in approximately 6 weeks! I will be getting my independence back and I can't tell you how much this means to me. #HappyFriday" I am so pleased that I was able to resolve Sarah's wheelchair issues. Fantastic news. Happy Friday indeed! I am standing in solidarity with all the hard-working Mitie employees who have taken the tough decision to go on strike. GMB Union members at St George's Hospital - who are employed by Mitie - have voted overwhelmingly for strike action. Mitie management can avert a strike by committing to protect patient safety, GMB members' jobs and hours, and negotiate in good faith to resolve this dispute. You have an ally in me. I will be on the picket line with you. It is vital now that Mitie make an acceptable offer to avert a strike - meeting to come soon. |
