![]() Since the Labour Party tabled a vote on the cladding scandal, I wanted to update you on the outcome of the Opposition Day Debate and the subsequent vote that took place on Monday 1 February 2021. While I'm pleased to let residents know that the Labour Party motion proposed passed 263 to 0, disappointingly, however, the Government didn't bother to turn up. It is worth noting that, while the motion has been passed, Opposition Day motions are not legally binding and there is no guarantee that the Government will take the proposals into consideration. In recent times, however, it has generally been convention for the Government to review policies that have been successful at the end of an Opposition Day Debate. My thoughts remain with everyone in the local area who is affected by this cladding scandal. I know how difficult this is for you, and please rest assured that I will continue to press the Government on this. Comments are closed.
